To be truly dedicated to the pursuit of beauty, is that we must always, always think positive when trying new products. Every time I pick up a new product, I always believe that it will deliver what it says on the packaging, and not cause my skin any grief.
Sadly, this is not the case. My skin is acne prone and rather unpredictable as to what may cause it an allergic reaction. So every now and then, I come across a product that makes me break out, and when that happens, I deal with it QUICK SMART.
This is a gem I discovered recently, to deal with the congestion caused by a couple of new products and Taipei’s humidity.
Dr Wu is a Taiwanese cosmeceutical brand, and its Acnecur System range is designed for blemish prone yet sensitive skin. I picked up the Pore Refining Toner as it seemed like exactly what my skin needs, and it was available in a trial size for 50% off
What they say:
Acnecur Pore Refining Toner With AC.NETTM is an advanced alcohol-free formula that improves acne-prone skin conditions by regulating sebum secretion and reducing excess oils to prevent clogged pores without stripping away vital moisture.
Through patented ingredients – Ac.net™, GlycacidTM and Acnebusters, this unique treatment stimulates skin renewal by removing dead cells, resulting in a clearer and smoother skin.
The toner is like water, which I find best applied with my fingers to minimise wastage. And rather than just patting it on, I gently rub it onto the skin with a circular motion. As I do that, I find it able to clean deep into the pores, bringing to the surface tiny granules of congestion.
The toner is very soothing to the skin and has the pleasant scent of witch hazel and tea tree oil. Within days, it completely gets rid of congestions, and dries out blemishes without drying the skin or leaving marks. Want proof? Check it out!
You can see the 3 outbreaks circled in Day 1 – the upper one I had previously attacked ; the middle some weird tiny blister, and the bottom one a bumpy congestion that is about to become a pimple. Other than that, my skin was irritated and a bit rough.
With daily application, the Dr Wu Acnecur Pore Refining Toner has not only “dissolved” the congestions, but also smoothed out my skin, making it feel a lot more balanced and less irritated.
I am so happy that I have found this product! Since it’s non-drying, I’ve also started to use it for the rest of my face. And when it runs out (or probably before that), I’ll be sure to get a full sized product.
Dr Wu Acnecur Pore Refining Toner retails NT$700 for 150ml, and is available in Cosmed and Watsons Taiwan-wide. For non-Taiwanese residents you can purchase it on Dr Wu’s website.
