Illamasqua is a cult British beauty brand known for their theatrical colour collections and brand images. With the tagline “Make-up for You Alter Ego”, Illamasqua’s mission is to provide high-performance, professional make-up to anyone who wants to self-express and accentuate their look beyond the norm. Never before has a brand been so daring to go so far out of what is considered the “norm” in makeup, and I find it so inspirational.
I was really excited to have won an Illamasqua goodie bag at the MBBE, and finally broke into them today for a long overdue FOTD
This is a really simple FOTD – all the drama deriving from the fabulous Illamasqua products which have intense pigments, and apply easily.
Products used:

Clowise from top left: Medium Pencil in Elate; Lipstick in Kontrol; False Eyelashes in Grandeur; Cream Pigments in Bedaub
For dramatic FOTDs, it’s best to start with the strongest element, which in this case is the dark purple lippy (Lipstick in Kontrol). With dark lipcolours, make your lip shape a bit more rounded – as dark colours can make lips appear thinner, making them round will retain the pouty shape.
I then apply the Cream Pigment in Bedaub with an eyeshadow brush. The Illamasqua cream pigment is so smooth and buildable – simply by applying the pigment from lashline upwards, and layering on more pigments in the socket, a gradient effect can be easily achieved.
After applying the False Eye Lashes in Grandeur (which by the way, is a shape that I’ve always wanted to try, and how awesome does it look!!?), and Medium Pencil in Elate on the lower lashline, I add the other elements in – one at a time. Add in only what seems to be missing, and use a light hand. With the lips and eyes already such strong focal points – another strong element could throw out the entire balance of the look.
So I simply added slight contour on the nose, terracotta blush, and black eyeshadow on the outer lash line. It’s dramatic but can easily be toned down for a night out. But after playing with Illamasqua products, my alter ego is dying to go out on the town!
Illamasqua is available in selected Myer stores.

Wow you look fantasic! I am getting a black/white swan feel here but the lashes make it look so angelic! Congrats on the win too, always a nice surprise X

Ingrid: Aww thank you! I did want to keep the angelic look, so originally I drew on semi-arc eyebrows but took them off for the effect. I love the eyelashes!

Sara-May: As long as it’s not lactating LOL
Sara-May: I’m going to try to use Kontrol another way too, so I can wear it out during the day/night cos I love it so much!
So pretty! I am lusting after those lashes!

Jos: The lashes are gorgeous aren’t they!? I’ve always wanted a pair like that, but talked myself out of it since they’re not for “normal” wear. I’m definitely going to utilise them for at least 1 more FOTD!
This look is amazing, love those lashes they’re so fluttery!

Megan: Thanks lovely! And it’s the easiest FOTD I’ve done – just slap the colours on and that’s it. The pigments make it dramatic as it is.
I really would love someone to hold a fancy dress party to sport the lashes in public
Fantastic look! You’re rocking those lashes and the purple lips, really!
