Re-learning Chinese sucks – currently typing at 4 words per minute and am stuck for words frequently. I feel like my brain power has been reduced by 30%.
Cockroaches killed and cleaned: 6. I have managed my fear of those disgusting things by taking out my contact lenses when having to sweep them up.
I can manage without a bed but can’t live without Internet – hence my purchase of unlimited data plan within an hour of my arrival, and laptop on day 4. No solid plans for bed as yet.
Despite the costs and hassles of moving my cats over to Taiwan, I’m so happy they’re here with us
The cats have finally started to eat normally, and to celebrate this one of them threw up on the edge of the mattress topper on the floor which we’re sleeping on :/
Living in one of the most convenient cities in the world makes you lazy – my threshold for travel time is now 5 mins by walking, 20 mins via public transport. And waiting more than 3 minutes for MRT is like watching grass grow.

Hahaha waiting for MRT for more than 3 minutes is like watching the grass grow… I know what you mean by that … reminds me of when I used to live in Singapore. And over here in Qld… waiting for 30minutes just… kill.
Love this Notes from Taiwan post, Tina!! And hope you and hubby and kitties all settle in real soon and get comfy

Dana: OMG I hate waiting for public transport so much! I love being able to step onto a train straight away, even at 11pm
Am glad you love the post. Am hoping that I’ll keep it up every 2 weeks or so – it’ll be great to see how I progress in my new life in Taiwan
I hear you about living in a convenient city. After being in HK where everything is around 30 min and the public transport is so efficient, not sure how I’m going to cope with going back to Sydney. It may well be the only reason why I don’t fancy returning to Sydney as yet.. LOL..

Chic McMuffin: I still remember having to wait 20 mins in Melb only a few weeks ago – and I was thinking about how much I’m looking forward to not having to do that in Taiwan! Convenience is such a great thing… as much as I love Australia, it was one of the main reasons why we decided to move to Taiwan.
lol at the watching grass grow comment.

Glad to hear things are setlling down just fine for you and your kitties are safe in your arms again

Lilpil: Our place feels so much more homely with the cats being here – they’re our little kitty children I couldn’t bear to abandon them. I’m hoping my Chinese will improve soon though – I love learning but am also impatient about it
I’m the opposite of you when it comes to cleaning cockroaches. Cleaning them with my contacts off would scare me even more. I’d be paranoid that somehow they will be swept off the ground, carried by the wind, and I wouldn’t be able to see it until it lands right on me :S

Sarah: Eek I’ve never thought of that!!! I hate those buggers – so disgusting I wish they just don’t exist!!!
haha, i bet you don’t have to watch too many grasses growing.
i miss the convenience of public transport in asian cities. you don’t have to think and you can just get on anytime anywhere!

Coco: Haha no I haven’t had to watch grass grow too much – love being able to walk into the MRT station, and get on the MRT straight away!
Oh gosh I know what you mean by trying to remember how to speak Mandarin after a long time of using other languages. When I visited Taipei, people kept mistaking me for a non-Chinese because of my “accent” – LOL! But they were very kind and said my Mandarin was “hen hao” after I apologize for being rusty…
Looking forward to more of these posts on your move back to Taiwan.

Beauty Box: LOL an “accent”! I don’t know if my problem is better or worse – I have no accent, just lack of vocabulary, so people probably think I’m slow or something >.<
