Laduree | Chasing Elixir

Following its spectacular launch into the beauty market, Les Merveilleuses de Ladurée will again set our hearts aflutter with its upcoming Summer 2012 collection. You may have noticed that the first collection focused very much on base and cheek products; the Summer 2012, will be all about eyes.

Eye Colour Palette

5 colour eyeshadow palette in an ultra-luxe, gold and white compact. Mostly earthy tones, I’d imagine that the texture will be sheer like most Japanese eyeshadows. Available in 5 variants, I like the look of 03 and 04 the most. Retails ¥4200 for refill; ¥525 for case and brush.

Eyebrow Palette

Features 1 wax/cream base and 2 colours of eyebrow powder, this would be the most practical item for me, as I love brow palettes! Available in 3 variants and retails ¥4725.

Tinted Lip Balm

Sheer coloured lip balm which I’m sure would be beautifully scented. The French Provincial design is just gorgeous! Available in 5 shades and retails ¥2625.

Eye & Lip Makeup Remover

Have no idea what kind of formula this makeup remover would be, but hello how gorgeous is the bottle!? Definitely one to be displayed. Retails ¥2100.

Gift with Purchase

This is a gift with purchase available from 2nd May – 14th June, with purchases over ¥8400.

Although not as jaw-dropping as the first collection, which features petal blushes, Laduree’s Summer 2012 collection is still beautiful and to me, a bit more practical. If by the time I’ve gone through my current brow palette, this collection is still available, I’ll definitely be purchasing 2, 3, or maybe 4 from the brand

As the years of my makeup obsession go by, I can honestly say that I still love makeup just as much, if not more than I did when I was a tween. There were times when I was less enthused about the numerous launches by cosmetic companies, but then something extraordinary comes by that excites me once again.

But nothing, NOTHING, has come close to Les Merveilleuses de Ladurée collection.

Ladurée is a famous French patisserie that created the macarons as we all know and love now (2 macaron shells with ganache filling in the middle). Earlier this year, Ladurée teamed up with Japanese makeup company Albion (creator of Anna Sui, Paul & Joe and Jill Stuart makeup) to launch the most decadent, unbelievably gorgeous Les Merveilleuses de Laduree makeup collection.

The collection features 17 lines of makeup and accessories, with its cheek colours as the hero products. Now feast your eyes on them:

Face Color Rose Ladurée

A fine powder blush pressed into the shape of rose petals. You can imagine just how fine the powder is, to be able to be pressed into petals with this much detail. From what I hear, the egg case is now completely sold out. Available in 3 shades and retails ¥7350 for the petals; ¥3150 for the case.

Cream Cheek Base

From what I can gather, this would be very similar to Maybelline’s Bouncy Blush, but in a much cuter packaging! It’s available in 5 shades and retails ¥4410 each.

Face Color Rose Ladurée Mini

This is limited edition and is the miniature version of the rose petal blush in egg container. Available in the same 3 shades, and each in a different box design. Retails ¥3360 each.

Pressed Cheek Colour

A compact pressed blush available in a huge array of colours (20 in total). Retails ¥3900 for refill; ¥1575 for case and brush.

Face Products

There are a number of products in the face category, from makeup base/primers through to powder. Each product is beautifully packaged just like the blushes.

Translucent Makeup Base 30ml (¥5250); Color Control Base 20ml (¥3990); Smoothing Base 15ml (¥3990); Stick Concealer 2g (2 shades, ¥3990); Fluid Foundation 30ml (3 shades, ¥6090); Face Powder (4 shades, ¥8820 for refill, ¥3780 for case with puff).

Lip Rouge

Slimlined wind up lippies in super cute packaging and dangling charm. Available in 7 shades and retail ¥4410 each.

Accessories

Include basic applicators such as brush, puff and sponge (heart shaped – sooo cute!!!). The gift box and greeting cards are limited edition.

Without doubt, Les Merveilleuses de Ladurée are collector’s items, and made to be a gift for makeup addicts. From the reviews that I’ve read, the quality is just as incredible as the packaging.

However, as much as I would love to own the entire collection, for the time being I have not yet made the decision to purchase any. They are reasonably priced and all, but looking at the state of my bathroom (with gazillions of products, half of which I’ve not even opened), the general lack of space in my apartment, and the fact that I’d never bring myself to use it – I just can’t justify the purchase. So instead I blog about them, for I will then at least be able to marvel at their beauty, and share my heartache with the rest of the beauty addicts that don’t/can’t get their hands on them.
