Za Cosmetics is a drugstore brand that I’ve come to love since arriving in Taiwan. Their BB cream is awesome, their prices very reasonable, and they’re always launching something new.
I’ve come to notice that bright lippies are rarely seen in the Taiwanese workplace, and as such started looking for a sheer bright lippy that can perk up a neutral face, yet is not too “out-there”. Za Cosmetic’s latest launch, Pure Shine Lips, seemed to be exactly what I was looking for, especially when they have gorgeous spokesmodels like these:
I picked up No. 10, Mango Passion – a gorgeous orange sorbet colour unlike any lipcolour I already own.
I quite like the packaging – simple, compact and pretty. It fits well with the overall brand image of Za Cosmetics, which is something the marketer in me always notices.
Also worth noting is that the case gives a nice solid “click” upon closure, so the lid doesn’t come off whilst rolling around in the handbag (Important right!???).
The pigments swatch true to its colour in the tube, a shimmery orange with a transparent formula.
On the lips the pigments are still quite intense, as it’s able to cover my naturally dark lips. And the bit of shimmer gives the lips a nice, juicy finish. A very wearable shade for most skin tones I reckon.
Za Cosmetics says that Pure Shine Lips lipcolour contains moisturising agents (hyaluronic acid, collagen complex and evening primrose oil), however and unfortunately, I can’t feel their benefits. In fact, I found this lipstick to be quite drying on the lips; it’s streaky if applied to non-prepped lips (see my lazy girl’s guide to soft lips), and causes my lips to become further chapped as the day progresses
Needless to say, I’m quite disappointed with the Za Cosmetics Pure Shine Lips lipcolour. I was really hoping that it would be an adequate substitute for Lancome Rouge In Love lipstick, but sadly it doesn’t live up to my expectation at all.
Za Cosmetics Pure Shine Lips retails for NT$280 and is available from all Watsons and Cosmed Asia-wide.

Oh sad face, they look like they would feel nice on your lips. The packaging is quite sweet too. Mango passion looks great on you though.

Madam M: I know right? I love the colour so I still wear it – making sure my lips are nice and prepped first though.
That’s a shame it’s drying… It’s such a pretty color!!
I have a similar color from laneige but it’s a bit too strong of an orange for my liking.

Tina: I love the colour too – it’s a strong orange but since it’s sheer it’s much less scary and flattering. I still wear it on days when my lips feel nice and hydrated first.
